Our Private Campsites
Eagle's Nest
Choose to camp Eagle's Nest and be perched at the top of Ascension Ranch for amazing views of Folsom Lake by day, and city lights by night.
This is a spectacular multi-tiered site that gets lots of sunshine, and is set up with the common area being at the highest point for the best views in the house, also boasting a rock-lined fire pit and large picnic table.
Take a few steps down to the lower tier for a nice flat tent-area that can comfortably house 4+ tents, depending on size.
This is the ideal pick for those who are seeking privacy and un-obstructed lake views, with walk-out / ride-out trailhead access to a private portion of the upper Darrington Trail (~5 minutes to the lake by car, 15 by hoof, and 30 by foot).
PLEASE NOTE: During the winter and our current construction projects, we recommend a high clearance vehicle and/or four wheel drive.

If at any time you'd prefer the horses to be removed, just let your host know!
The campsite can easily accommodate medium sized groups and up to 4 tents. Nestled in among our lower pasture, the views are of an oak savannah and rolling hills. Important Information & Ranch Rules
-
Guests must sign a Ranch Waiver prior to visiting or upon arrival.
-
Campsite group must obtain a campfire permit: http://permit.preventwildfiresca.org/
-
There are times fire-bans are put in effect, sometimes with no ability to provide guests any notice - it is ALWAYS a good idea to bring a propane stove for cooking.
-
When no fire ban is in place, it is OK to burn sticks and branches found on the ground - we also have firewood delivery available which can be purchased during the reservation process, or by contacting your ranch host.
-
If you open a gate, please close it securely behind you - this is a working ranch with livestock roaming freely in most pastures.
-
Don't let the animals out, no matter how kindly they ask, or how hard they push.
-
Be respectful of all animals, and other guests on the ranch. We don't like rules and yellow tape, so use common sense when it comes to noise, quiet time, etc.
-
Pack it in, PACK IT OUT! - if something doesn't fit in the trash-can at your site, please pack it out with you.
-
Clean up after yourself, and help folks that forget - Don't leave anything behind on the trails. Leave the bathrooms clean and tidy, even if it's a porta-potty.
-
This is a private property and we expect every guest to treat the ranch with respect.
-
We are pet friendly, however all visiting dogs must remain on-leash, and it's important to know we have free-range Livestock Guardian Dogs who are permitted to roam the ranch protecting their animals from predators - they may visit your site a couple times during your trip - no extra charge for the security! If you are bringing your dog(s) please make your camp host aware so they can be properly introduced to ours upon your arrival.
